Orangeboy

Orangeboy is a book set in London, in around current times and the main character is called Marlon. It begins as he meets Sonya, an attractive, blonde girl who he is kind of dating, however tragedy strikes and Sonya dies. Now Marlon is pulled into the world of gangs, drugs and violence, trying to discover what Sonya was really doing. And what connection does this have to Marlon’s older brother Andre? I think Orangeboy is a really good book, although at some points I was a bit confused with the storyline but I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to teenagers because it has quite strong violence and themes and it’s very deep. My favourite character was probably Tish because I liked the way she stuck with Marlon all the time and the way she wasn’t afraid to say what was needed to be said. I think she was a really strong female role model. The book was also quite violent and action packed but I liked the way the story unfolded as it gradually gave you more information. I also found the ending a bit sad but kind of sweet. Overall, it was a great book. I would recommend it to teenagers because it has quite strong violence and themes and it’s very deep.
