Story
A young lion cub named Simba is set to succeed his father, King Mufasa, as ruler of Pride Rock. However, when his villainous Uncle Scar convinces him to take the blame for Mufasa’s death, Simba is forced to flee the Pride Lands. He is raised by a carefree duo—Timon and Pumbaa—until one day Simba encounters his childhood friend Nala. She tells him about Scar, who has let the Pride Lands fall into ruin, and convinces Simba to confront his past.

Why we chose it
A coming of age story with themes of loss and redemption, vivid characters, memorable animation and an award winning music.
The Lion King was Disney’s first animated feature film with an original story and has been a firm favourite with cinema audiences. The stage musical has enjoyed similar success.
